A look at history
Oasis Route
The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is an area mainly inhabited by the Uighur people of China. Since ancient times, spices have been introduced to the region via the Silk Road, and the region borders Uzbek and Kazakhstan, so there are many dishes in common. As it is also a multi-ethnic region, a fusion of cooking styles has led to the development of cuisine that is unique to Xinjiang.
The Silk Road was an oasis road (South Tianshan Road) through dry desert areas, and was actually traveled by caravans carrying camels and other animals.
In addition to that, there was also the Steppe Road (Northern Tianshan Route) on the Eurasian continent. In addition to land routes such as the Oasis Road and the Steppe Road, there was also a sea route (maritime traffic route) that connected the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, the South China Sea, and the East China Sea. The "Oasis Road", "Steppe Road", and "Sea Road" are collectively called the Silk Road.
